Albemarle Weekend (“we”) publishes a free weekly email and this website about things to do in Elizabeth City and across the Albemarle region of northeastern North Carolina. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it. The short version: we collect your email address to send you the newsletter, and that’s it.
What we collect
- Your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it, when you sign up for the newsletter.
- Basic email activity, such as whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked. Our email provider records this automatically, and it helps us see which picks people like.
- Anonymous website statistics, such as page views and the type of device used, through Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn’t use cookies to track you across websites.
How we use it
- To send you the weekly email you signed up for.
- To improve the newsletter and the site.
- To share totals with sponsors, such as “1,000 subscribers” or “120 clicks.” We never give a sponsor your email address or any other personal details.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
Services we use
- Kit (ConvertKit) stores the subscriber list and sends the newsletter.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and provides the anonymous statistics.
These companies process data for us under their own privacy policies.
Links to other sites
Our picks link to event organizers, venues and other websites. We don’t control those sites, and their own privacy policies apply. Some links may be sponsored or affiliate links, and we’ll always label them.
Photo submissions
If you email us a photo, we use it only to feature it on the site and in the newsletter with credit to you; email hello@albemarleweekend.com anytime to have it removed.
Unsubscribing and deleting your data
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click removes you. To have your email address deleted entirely, write to hello@albemarleweekend.com and we’ll take care of it.
Children
The newsletter is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
